Mike played all through youth Dixie baseball leagues into high school where he lettered all four years at Southwood High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, while making All-State honors as a pitcher his Junior & Senior years. Mike was then drafted out of high school by the Florida Marlins in the 31st round of the 1995 MLB draft. Mike did not sign but continued his career and education at Texarkana JC in Texarkana, TX.
After his freshman year at Texarkana JC, Mike was re-drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 45th round of the 1996 MLB draft. Again, Mike did not sign but went to Nevada, Missouri in the summer of 1996 where he played for the Nevada Griffons in the Jayhawk League. After playing in the Jayhawk League, Mike then attended Hill College in Hillsboro, TX where he earned All-Conference honors while pitching the Hill College Rebels to their first JUCO World Series in 1997. Mike continued his education and baseball career while attending Dallas Baptist University from fall of 1997 to spring of 2000 where he pitched for coach Jim Harp. After DBU, Mike played a short stint for the London Werewolves of the Independent League in London, Ontario, Canada.
Mike's pitching career was cut short due to a shoulder injury but Mike's love for the game continues on. Mike enjoys coaching his kids in various YMCA leagues and hopes to teach and mold other kids the fundamentals of pitching. Mike resides in Waxahachie, TX where he is happily married to his wife Krystal and has 5 children, Sydnie-15, Michael-8, twin girls Mia & Ava-4 & Jonah-3mos.
